Dr. Dibya Ratna Kansakar

Dr. Dibya Ratna Kansakar holds a Ph.D. in Geology from the M.S. University of Baroda, India. He was working as the Chief Hydro geologist in the Department of Irrigation, Govt. of Nepal before he joined SaciWATERs as its Executive Director and the Project Director of the Crossing Boundaries Project (in 2008). He had contributed in various capacities in different aspects water resource development and management, particularly ground water resources in Nepal, Including in the formulation of National

Water Resources Strategy and in the implementation of Community Groundwater Irrigation Sector Project as its Project Director. He has been a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow at University of Washington, USA, and also a visiting scientist at the University of Hawaii and an Adjunct Research Associate at East West Center, Hawaii, USA. He is the founding Chairman, Nepal National Committee, International Association of Hydro geologists. He has contributed numerous scientific research papers in leading national and international journals, and has authored chapters in edited books. His current areas of interest are interdisciplinary water resources management, water policy and water and equity.

Dr. Chanda Gurung Goodrich
Senior Fellow - Research

Chanda Gurung Goodrich holds M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. Her MPhil dissertation focused on women’s role in development, while her Ph.D. thesis focused on the elimination of discrimination against women. Her specialization as a professional is in Participatory Research & Development and Gender, particularly in natural resources management. She has worked extensively on issues of social and gender equity

rights particularly in the sphere of agriculture, natural resources management and sustainable livelihoods in India and Nepal since 1996. She has published several papers and chapters on gender and agriculture/natural resource management. At SaciWATERs, she is in charge of the research programme of the Crossing Boundaries Project.

Dr. Anjal Prakash
Senior Fellow - Research & Outreach

A graduate from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, India, Anjal Prakash, has a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Wageningen University and Research Center, The Netherlands. He has worked extensively on the issues of ground water management, gender, natural resource management and water supply and sanitation in India. Prior to joining SaciWATERs, Dr. Prakash worked with the policy team of Water Aid India based at New Delhi handling research and

implementation projects related to Integrated Water Resources Management. He has contributed many papers in leading journals and chapters in edited books. He has authored the book "The Dark Zone: Groundwater Irrigation, Politics and Social Power in North Gujarat" that was published by Orient Longman. At SaciWATERs, he is handling research and outreach portfolio as senior fellow (under crossing boundaries project).

Dr. Jayati Chourey
Research Associate - Water and Health

Jayati Chourey is presently working as a Research Associate in SaciWATERs under the Crossing Boundaries Project. She has pursued her doctoral research in Wetland Management at the Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM), Bhopal (Forest Research Institute, Deemed University, Dehradun). Prior to her Ph.D., she completed her Masters in Limnology; Aquatic Environmental Sciences. She has been an Environment Equity & Justice Partnership (EEJP) Fellow for the year

2005-06 supported by Ford Foundation. She has been working in the field of Natural Resource Management for the past six years under various projects and capacities. She has worked with Dept of Environmental Sciences (Andhra University, Visakhapatnam); Ecological & Economics Social Network (EERN) coordinated by Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. She is associated with various environmental and social development forums.

Ms. Sreoshi Singh
Research Associate - Water Policy

Sreoshi Singh, a Research Associate with SaciWATERs Hyderabad, is working in the area of Water Policies in South Asia. She has completed her M.A. and MPhil from the Centre for the Study of Regional Development, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She has earlier worked as Research Officer in various social sector projects at the Indian Institute of Public Administration, New Delhi and has a couple of publications to her credit. She is also registered for Ph.D. at the Centre for Economic and Social Studies, Hyderabad.

Ms. Arpita De
Communication Specialist

After her MSc degrees in Geography (from Presidency College, Calcutta) and Population & Development (from London School of Economics), Arpita De has worked in the charities/development sector of both, India and the UK. She was engaged in sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, gender, poverty and governance issues in urban as well as rural sectors of India. In the UK, she worked with migrants, asylum seekers and people with physical disabilities and/or long-term illness on issues of exclusion, unemployment, rights and social care. Currently, she is working in the SaciWATERs team to develop and implement communication strategies and to liaise and network for maximum outreach in supporting the organisation’s mission.

Ms. Hemalatha Paul

Ms. Hemalatha Paul has completed her MBA (Human Resource Management) from Symbiosis, Pune. She has been working as an Office Manager in SaciWATERs since July 2005. Previously she has worked in various International NGOs in the HR and Administration sectors. Her task for the Crossing Boundaries Project is to assist the management in recruitment, organize meetings, coordinate conferences/workshops and staff training and she is also responsible for administration set up and day to day work.
