Study Title Impact of Globalisation on Rural Enterprises in India
Study Region India with Comparative analysis of few select Globalized Countries(Incl. South Asian Countries)
Problem Statement/Central Research Question
Globalisation of an economy results in changes in the way business is conducted in rual enterprises impacting resources and social systems.
Relevance of the question/hypothesis

The opening of the economy brought in aggressive marketing into the doorsteps of rural households, changing the way they conduct their occupations, business and live in a society where social fabric is under pressure. Individual's relation to commuinty, nature and resources has undergone a change, forcing people to change the way inputs are used, outputs are marketed and relate to larger society. As such, to understand this it is necessary to study how water and other natural resources are being harnessed by villagers. As the globalisation progresses, people's access to information, market and policy makers has changed, bringing in dynamics of market, policies and bureacracy into the rural community, resulting in complex outcomes. As such, it is felt necessary to study how the rural enterprises behave under leashing external pressures.

How the question/hypothesis is researched

The Rural enerprises in agriculture and dairying, forestry, irrigation/water, fisheries and aritsanal activities are those which have a direct bearing from the mulitnationals. Large corporates and also international agencies working in rural areas. A study of how these enterprises were functioning in free-globalisation era and now and study whether the internal and external competitive features have undergone a change would be the focus. This exercise would then be contrasted with the experiences of New Zealand, Hondraus, Nepal and on other state, to seek an understanding of whether the globalisation process and its impact was on similar lines or not.
