Key Achievements
- Majority of women in this cluster were at risk of domestic violence issues. Hence, BVM realise the need for capacitating and educating women about their rights and supported through action plan if they ever experience domestic violence. It had conducted a training session on Domestic Violence Act on 10.3.2014 at Uday nagar community hall. Mr. Shankar Challuri facilitated this session; this programme was successful in getting positive response from women.
- The BVM team of this area succeeded in sanctioning a budget of Rs. 8.5 lakhs for the fencing of the open Naala which was the cause of the distress of the entire community eradicated open defecation where majority of the household were dependant on this naala for defecation.
- It also gained success in sanctioning the consumables for the area for collecting the wastes.
- It also played a cruel role in getting access to existing community halls which were under control of local goons.
- After conducting several interfaces and basti meeting BVM team has identified women has leadership potential in them, Selected potential women were trained in management skills to make them self reliant.
- Through this capacity building for women, BVM team started involving women to participate in basti initiatives and representations.
- Several events were conducted to encourage children to participate which could be convincing approach in dealing with the school sanitation, environmental sustainability and hygiene behavior which enclose a larger impact on community.
- Children participated were highly motivated through the programmes conducted such as documentary which had a greater impact and children came with their views on the discussion, This kind of awareness has brought an enthusiasm in children and the community. It also helped in expanding the visibility of the BVM.
- Events conducted for women have helped to build and enhance their abilities that they could empower themselves and struggle against the domestic violence. The programme of showing picture titled "Glub Gang" has helped women to draw a learning experience from this story and build a replica of such active women group in the slum.
Recently, By involving community people in representations along with team through Praja vani, the issues like community hall and school availability is resolved and achieved in processing the further investigation for implementation.
