SaciWATERs is proud to announce the official launch of the Global Mangrove Alliance (GMA) India Chapter, established on 5 April 2025. SaciWATERs co-leads this national initiative alongside Wetlands International South Asia, bringing together 22 member organisations committed to the conservation, protection, and restoration of mangrove ecosystems across India. The GMA India Chapter unites organisations, researchers, practitioners, communities, and policymakers across India under a shared mission aligned with the Global Mangrove Alliance 2030 goals, specifically to halt mangrove loss, double protection, and restore half of the world lost mangroves. The Global Mangrove Alliance is the preeminent global alliance driving mangrove conservation and restoration worldwide. With over 100 member organisations across 30 countries, the GMA supports science, shapes policy, mobilizes finance, trains practitioners, and facilitates on-ground action through its diverse membership.
